Molecular formula : ( NaPO3 ) 6 , molecular weight : 611.82 . Sodium hexametaphosphate is transparent glass-like powder or scaly solid, relative density : 2.484 , easily soluble in water , solubility is 973.2g in 1L water at 20 °C; solubility is 1744g in 1L water at 80°C; , in 1% solution, PH value : 5.5-6.5 , insoluble in organic solvents.
Mainly used in circulating water treatment ( floatation agent,dispersant etc. ) . Industrial sodium hexametaphosphate is used in water treatment as floatation agent, dispersant etc.. Food grade can be used as antistaling agent.
